Sunshine Mile Urban Overlay District Workshop

Representatives from Rio Nuevo and the City of Tucson will present an overview of this overlay, which
promotes mixed-use, transit-oriented development along Broadway.

Sites that utilize this new zoning tool can develop with residential or commercial uses. The overlay also promotes adaptive reuse and can help existing businesses expand or locate in historic structures. The overlay can offer parking reductions, site development flexibility, and incentives for affordable housing or mobility hubs.

The workshop will cover requirements for pedestrian connectivity, streetscape design, green building practices, and open space. You will also learn about the steps in the process to utilize this overlay.
